SOLID Training

Program Overview

The Student Organization Leaders Intentional Development (SOLID) program is an initiative to ensure that you, as student organization leaders, are properly equipped to lead your groups successfully and utilize all of the resources available. The goals of SOLID are to:

  • help your student organization(s) achieve its goals
  • develop your leadership knowledge and skills
  • ensure that you are aware of university policies and resources
  • promote responsibility, respect, and positive experiences through student organizations

SOLID workshops provide organization leaders with information on the policies and requirements associated with student groups on campus, an in-depth overview of UConntact, and effective strategies and suggestions specific to each Student Leader position.

In Person Workshops


EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP (Tier-I, Tier-II, Tier-III)
  • Who must attend: Tier-I President, Tier-II President, Tier-II Vice President, Tier-II Secretary, Tier-II Treasurer, Tier-III President, Tier-III Vice President, Tier-III Secretary, Tier-III Treasurer
  • Content: This workshop is designed to teach RSO leaders about the role and main responsibilities of their positions through facilitation of organizational goals and needs; and to teach RSO leaders how to create a healthy organizational culture.
Event Planning Primer (Tier-II, Tier-III)
  • Who must attend:Tier-II President, Tier-II Vice President, Tier-II Treasurer, Tier-III President, Tier-III Vice President, Tier-III Secretary, Tier-III Treasurer
  • Content: This workshop will provide RSO Presidents and Vice Presidents with an overview of the event planning process, appropriate timelines, and much more - so that they are better prepared to lead successful events on and off campus.
Funding your RSO (Tier-II, Tier-III)
  • Who must attend: Tier-II President, Tier-II Treasurer
  • Content: This workshop provides RSO Treasurers and Presidents with an overview of the financial responsibilities of Tier II organizations, and how these should be managed. This includes financial planning, contracts, funding procedures, equipment inventories, fundraising, co-sponsorship, and making financial reports.

SOLID 101 – ONLINE TRAINING (Tier-I, Tier-II, Tier-III)
  • Who must attend: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary
  • Content: This workshop is designed to teach all RSO leaders about the SOLID program, requirements and trainings, officer positions, and offices/resources available to RSOs.
PERTINENT POLICIES & PROCEDURES – ONLINE TRAINING (TIER I, TIER II, TIER III)
  • Who must attend: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary
  • Content: This workshop provides RSO leaders with information related to important policies and procedures including using Reserving Space on Campus, Effective Marketing of your RSO activities, Logos use, Campus Posting policy, On Campus and Off Campus events.
RSO HAZING, HARMING, & HARASSING – ONLINE TRAINING (Tier-I, Tier-II, Tier-III)
  • Who must attend: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary
  • Content: This workshop provides information to all RSO Leaders regarding Hazing, Harming, and Harassment behaviors to provide a better understanding and ways to create positive experiences for the community.
SOLID SECRETARY – ONLINE TRAINING (TIER II)
  • Who must attend: Tier-II Secretary
  • Content: This workshop is designed to provide RSO Secretaries with an overview of the role of a secretary, including attendance tracking, meeting minutes, correspondence, record keeping methods and practices.
