We are excited to begin hosting one-off sporting events for your opportunity to compete in sports beginning in the Fall 2024 semester!

One-off sporting events will provide you with the opportunity to engage in a competitive tournament for a variety of sports. A tournament for a one-off sporting event will be completed within the timeframe of the one-off events the Office of Student Activities host. Our one-off sporting events will have peer referees! Please be sure to respect your fellow peers. A Student Activities employee will be on site to track scores for tournaments. You must abide by campus policies while participating in off site campus activities.

Behavior 

• As traditional in sports, referees have red and yellow cards to issue for game related conduct.
• Poor sportsmanship can result in not being able to continue to play in the tournament
• If you witness behavior that violates The Student Code, please report it here so the University can address the concern

Our first event is taking place on Wednesday, September 25th from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM called Indoor Sports Extravaganza at Pickleball America. You can find more information here: https://pickleballamerica.us/ 

We are excited to host our first one-off sporting event at Pickleball America in the Stamford Town Center! Our first event has multiple exciting offerings ranging from competing in a pickleball or badminton tournament, learning pickleball from a professional, and having all night to play ping pong, foosball, air hockey, pop-a-shot, pickle ball free-play and an assortment of board games and music to enjoy the night! Pickleball America is conveniently located near campus at Stamford Towne Center, only requiring a 10-minute walk.  

The RSVP Form has several options to choose from:

Patio Only Option

This RSVP option offers full access to the patio in Pickleball America to play an assortment of games ranging from ping pong, foosball, air hockey, pop-a-shot, and an assortment of board games. You will be able to watch the Pickleball and Badminton tournaments from the courtyard. This RSVP will provide you with full access to this courtyard from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Wednesday, 9/25/2024.

Pickleball Tournament Option

Compete in Pickle Ball on the courts! This RSVP option also has full access to the patio to play an assortment of games ranging from ping pong, foosball, air hockey, pop-a-shot, and an assortment of board games while you wait your turn to play in the tournament. The tournament for Pickleball is running from 5:30PM-9:00PM. Each team will have 2 players.  You must arrive no later than 5:15 PM to secure your RSVP to the Pickleball Tournament, later arrival may result in losing your RSVP to a student on a waitlist. If you are late and lose your RSVP to the tournament, you are are still fully welcomed to participate in the variety of options in the Patio Only Option.

Badminton Tournament Option

Compete in Badminton on the courts! This RSVP option also has full access to the patio to play an assortment of games ranging from ping pong, foosball, air hockey, pop-a-shot, and an assortment of board games while you wait your turn to play in the tournament. The tournament for Badminton is running from 5:30PM-9:00PM. Each team will have 2 players. You must arrive no later than 5:15 PM to secure your RSVP to the Badminton Tournament, later arrival may result in losing your RSVP to a student on a waitlist. If you are late and lose your RSVP to the tournament, you are are still fully welcomed to participate in the variety of options in the Patio Only Option.

Learn Pickleball Option

Learn Pickle Ball from an on-site professional! After the 1-hour session with a group of 8 students, you will have the rest of the night for free play on the court to practice your new skills. Availability for this option is only 8 students. If you are interested RSVP soon to secure your spot! If you RSVP after maximum capacity is reached you will be placed on a waitlist. You are are still fully welcomed to participate in the variety of options in the Patio Only Option if you are on a waitlist. You must arrive no later than 5:05 PM to secure your RSVP, later arrival may result in losing your RSVP to a student on a waitlist. If you are late and lose your RSVP to learn pickleball from a professional, you are are still fully welcomed to participate in the variety of options in the Patio Only Option.

Schedule of Events:

5:00 PM - 9:00 PM Free play in patio that offers a wide range of activities such as ping pong, pop-a-shot, pool/billiards, foosball, music, and a wide assortment of boardgames. All options are welcome to play in the patio area from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

5:00 PM - 5:30 PM Check-in, review of tournament schedule and rules, warm-up. You must be checked-in and receive your wristband prior to participating in the Indoor Sport Extravaganza event. Check-in requires checking in with a student employee and physically signing the Waiver of Liability provided by Pickleball America.

5:15 PM - 6:15 PM Professional instruction on how to play Pickle Ball (free play of pickleball in court after professional instruction ends). Must arrive by 5:05 for Pickleball Instruction check-in.

5:30 PM -9:00 PM Pickleball and Badminton Tournaments. Must be checked-in by the start of the game. Must arrive by 5:15 PM for tournament check-in.
